HOMEOWNERS NOW HAVE ONE MORE YEAR TO SAVE ON AEROSEAL DUCT SEALING THROUGH FEDERAL ENERGY TAX CREDIT
The Recently Signed Consolidated Appropriations Act Extends For One Year The Expiration Date Of Tax Credits Given To Homeowners For Energy Efficiency Measures Sarasota, FL – March 24, 2016 –
Homeowners now have through the end of 2016 to earn as much as $500 in federal tax credit for effectively sealing their ductwork with Aeroseal. The Consolidated Appropriations Act, recently signed into law, extends the eligibility period for duct sealing and other approved energy efficiency measures to include work completed through 2016. The tax credit was previously due to expire at the end of 2015. “This is great news for homeowners looking to improve the comfort, indoor air quality and energy efficiency of their homes,” said Ken Summers, Vice President Comfort Institute, an international indoor comfort research and training organization. “Aerosealing the ductwork is typically the single most impactful thing homeowners can do to reduce their monthly energy bills, and now with this tax credit, the cost of sealing is a particular bargain.”
According to the new measure, owners of existing homes may receive a tax credit worth 10% of the cost of upgrading the efficiency of the home’s duct system. Installation (labor) costs are not included, and the credit is capped at a maximum of $500 for all improvements from January 1, 20011 through December 31, 2016. To be eligible for the credit, the improvement must meet the prescriptive requirements established for it under the 2009 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) including supplements. “One of the great benefits of having ductwork sealed utilizing the patented Aeroseal system is that the computerized system used in the process generates an official report when the work is finished,” said Summers. “So while homeowners will immediately feel the difference by way of improved comfort and improved air quality throughout the entire home, they will also get official documentation they can use to show actual before and after results.”
